Iranian Earthquake Appeal

Destruction in Bam
Aftermath of destruction

As we were celebrating Christmas and enjoying precious family time, disaster came to the people of Iran, when an earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale, struck the city of Bam and surrounding villages.

Over 40,000 people were killed - over 75,000 left homeless

The needs of the survivors now centre on shelter, food and sanitation. People urgently require - blankets, tents, canned food, generators, toilets, heaters and medicines.

The Society has launched an appeal for funds to send to Trocaire who are working with the Red Cross to purchase and distribute these items.
