Impending law reform of the Legal Structures for Charities currently being implemented in the south of Ireland will soon affect charities like ours.

Child Protection awareness courses have been delivered to several areas throughout the past year and we will continue to keep this issue to the forefront of all our work within the Society.

Great improvements have been made in our shops' standards with the introduction of agreed policies on display, pricing and staffing throughout our string of 30 "Vincent's Boutiques".

Sarah-Jane Loughrey spoke to those gathered on the progress of youth development to date in the region.

A series of innovative events and activities have been planned to help keep as many youth members involved in Society work.

With over 21 youth conferences in schools, colleges and universities throughout NI, it is imperative that we provide the backup and support to allow interested members to progress into senior conferences effectively.

The annual meeting of area presidents took place in Clare Lodge, Newcastle over the weekend of 4th & 5th March 2006.

Since the conception of the Society's national plan for renewal, members at all levels have been charged with developing and implementing the much needed changes.

Representatives of the Society's 19 areas in the northern region gathered to hear what progress had been made on many of the key areas.

Cormac Wilson gave an update on the development of the Society's prison visitation policy.

Rita Mannion reported on the progress made on Twinning with Ghana. Many conferences in Northern Ireland are now actively 'twinned' with a counterpart in Africa.

Planning for the trip to Ghana in August is well underway and we will be reporting how the financial aid from NI is being spent.
