The Mountainview Project

Around a dozen children avail of our Breakfast Club every weekday morning where they get the chance to socialise before eating a well balanced meal just before school.

Parents and teachers have reported improvements in behaviour, learning and attendance with all the children who have attended the club over the last five years.

An average of 25 children attend the centre every afternoon where they can get help with homework and enhance their learning ability through play activities for a few hours.

Family learning activities are provided through a weekly Mother & Toddler Group and Numeracy and Literacy classes (Crèche provided).

This year's Summer Scheme once again proved a resounding success with over 50 children enrolling for the many activities and outings on offer during July and August.

West Belfast Mountainview Project receive prestigious award from Playboard NI for their innovative work with children and families.

Project Manager Kay Shortt picked up the Model of Excellence Award for their 'Out of School-Hours Project' at the Playboard Annual Conference in Omagh College on Thursday 25th October 2007.

Senior Childcare co-ordinator Sonyia Carelton received the runner-up award for Playworker of the Year in the "Mountainview Project" which has been running for several years in Belfast's Turf Lodge area.

Speaking after the event Linda Savage (West Belfast Area President) said, "This is a regional accredited award and it means that all other childcare/playwork providers can look to us for quality and expertise in this field".
