The Society has always been supportive of the many international disaster appeals over the years and especially those which have affected Africa.
Some of the larger appeals included Biafra in 1970, Ethiopa 1984, Somalia 1992 and Sudan in 2004.
Money donated by the public is used only for the specific 'one-off' purpose of alleviating the suffering of those affected by such disasters whether natural or man made.
Recently we have worked closely with Concern, Trocaire and the Red Cross to ensure the best distribution of all money collected and to ensure that it reaches those in need.

At a National level, the Society now has a Disaster Relief Fund designed to be used as a first response for immediate aid to any affected areas before more substantial amounts can be collected by our members.
